インド更紗からインドネシア更紗、ジャワ更紗などもともとインドから発症している更紗ですがさまざまあります。このカバーに使用されているものはインドネシア更紗と思われます。裏地とペン刺しのリボンにあしらいました。発祥の地インドにおける染織技術は優れたものでありました。両面同柄の更紗はそれで判別できます。エキゾチックな文様や色彩は、やがて西欧の東インド会社に、そして中国、日本へも渡りました。日本人好みにアレンジされ和更紗として人気を博しました。エキゾチックな文様と色彩は日本でも好まれました。このカバーには表紙のアクセントとしてペン刺しのリボンに使用しました。同柄、同色を裏地としてを使用しています。芯には水に強いプラスチックのポリプロピレンを使用しましたが、馴染むまで折り返しが開きやすいので同素材のバンドを付けました。手帳カバーでもブックカバーでも兼用可。
